Principal Letter 12/16/20Dear JRE Families,

On December 15, 2020 the PUSD Governing Board made the decision to move to distance learning January 4 through January 18, 2021 with students returning to in person learning on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. JRE's model for distance learning will be the same as the first quarter. In order to make sure that every student has access to learning whether they have Internet access or not, teachers will upload review work for the week of January 4; the week of January 11, they will upload one video for each content area and five assignments for students to work on. Teachers will be available to answer questions and help students during Google Meets office hours each day.  The office hours are included here:

We are sending student devices home with students on Thursday, December 17. Chargers were sent home over the Thanksgiving break. We are awaiting the delivery of cases. With the implementation of PUSD's 1:1 student technology program and the need to be flexible in transitioning to e-learning as our circumstances necessitate. For the second semester we are offering the PUSD Device Protection Plan (DPP) to K-5 students. The DPP will minimize the potential repair and/or replacement fees associated with the device under PUSD Board policies EDBA, JQ and JICB.

Plan payment of $25 annually (prorated to $12 for PES/JRE students for the second semester) maintains the device enrollment in the DPP. If a device becomes damaged, the student will take it to the school’s designee and follow the repair procedure. There is no deductible charged. The Technology Department will repair or replace the device. If the device is lost or stolen, a fee of $295 will be assessed.

What is covered under the plan?

  • Accidental damage, such as cracked screens or cases, broken keyboards, etc.
  • Hardware issues (video cable, broken ports, speakers, malfunctioning components)

What is NOT covered under the plan?

  • Lost or stolen devices
  • Lost, stolen or damaged AC Adapters
  • Intentional or habitual damage to the device, as determined by the Principal and Technology Department
  • Infestation and biohazard remediation

Enrollment in the DPP does not begin until the payment has been received and for PES/JRE students the $12 DPP must be received by January 15, 2021. Payments can be made online (preferred) via credit card through the PUSD Webstore - pusd10.org (visit http://bit.ly/pusdwebstore for instructions) or at the school. Additional information can be found at http://bit.ly/pusdsdh. If you have any issues with student credentials, please call 928-472-2000.

Devices will return to school with students January 19th. Chargers should stay home until we request them towards the end of the school year. When devices are home, please make sure to charge them where you will see them on the mornings they should go back to school.

If your child is going to be absent on Thursday, December 17 or Friday, December 17, you may pick up your child's Chromebook at school beginning Monday, January 4 between 7:45 AM and 3:15 PM.

We need your help in supporting each other and in the efforts of keeping PUSD and the Payson community safe.  Thank you for partnering with the Julia Randall teachers and staff to help your child succeed.

 Warmest regards,

Kimberly Yates, M.Ed.
